Occupational Tax
Ordinance Number 1791 was passed
in December 2009 and became effective January 1, 2010. This Ordinance changed
the Jefferson County Occupational Tax rate, withholding basis and year-end
reconciliation process.
Unfortunately, the 2010
Occupational Tax coupons and instructions that were mailed out at the
beginning of the year contained some errors and will be replaced with a
second mailing at the end of March 2010. Upon receiving the second mailing,
please discard the coupons (white in color) that were previously mailed upon
receiving the replacement coupons.

filing the Occupational Tax and you already have an established account with
Jefferson County, please contact our Maintenance Section at (205) 325-5195.

If you are not registered
with Jefferson County and need to obtain an account number, please print the Application for Tax or License
Number and mail it to the address indicated.
We are working on
developing a process to allow online tax filing and hope to have that
enhancement available in the future.
